‘Biggest’ run targets $5 m
With sponsors including New Balance and Rebel Sport, organisers of the Sydney The Sun-Herald City2Surf report the run will be held on August 12.
Claimed to be the world’s largest run and Sydney’s favourite sporting event, more than 85,000 entrants are expected to fill all available spaces within weeks of registrations opening in late May.
Participants in the run from the city to Bondi will be joined by several celebrity ambassadors.
Last year the City2Surf raised more than $3.8m for charity, with this year’s target of $5m.
Participants are encouraged to run for a cause close to their hearts, with more than 650 charities taking part in the fundraising initiative.
• The City2Surf expo will be held over the three previous days in the Town Hall.
