‘So much fun’ Ravaillion takes on ambassadorship

Kimberley Ravaillion has been named the first national ambassador of Netball Australia’s NetSetGO programme after taking part in its dance DVD.

“I had so much fun dancing with the kids during the making of the DVD so becoming the national ambassador was an easy decision,” the Australian Diamonds and Queensland Firebirds midcourter says.

A 20-year-old rising star, she will become the face of the junior development programme aimed to provide kids from five to ten years with the best possible learning and playing experience to develop a positive introduction to netball.

“It’s really important for our junior players to experience netball for the first time in a fun, safe and inclusive environment with modified games, music and dance ensuring enjoyment and continued participation,” she says.

“Modified games played a significant role in my netball development when I first started as a seven-year-old at Endeavour Park in Sydney’s western suburbs, allowing me to develop the basic skills across all positions of the court.”

The two-tiered programme –sponsored by ANZ – provides kids with the opportunity to learn netball related fundamental motor skills with fun music, dance and games before the introduction of modified games with a focus on fun and teamwork.

Dance has been introduced into the curriculum this year, with Ravaillion leading the dance DVD designed to teach next generation of netballers the fundamental motor skills required.

Her speed, agility and skills on court have quickly made her a fan favourite while her energetic, cool, fun and friendly personality off the court exemplifies the qualities of the ANZ NetSetGO programme, a spokesperson said.

She made history last year by making her international debut ahead of her ANZ Championship debut when she was a surprise selection in the Australian Diamonds tour of England in January.
