ARL launches online staff training
Published: January 17, 2013To get better at what we do – this is the reasoning behind the recently-launched ARL online staff training programmes, so says divisional manager sport, Terry Dopper.
“The pressures of retail are steadily mounting and it is tough out there. On the online sites, consumers see everything exciting, bright and shiny with great presentation, knowledge and fun experiences.
“As retailers we need to give consumers great experiences, not just product and price.
“To compete with online offers, we must get better at what we do. Exciting visual merchandising, staff who are up to speed on what consumers want, along with key labels and key brands.”
Dopper reports that ARL sports division is the first to roll out the online staff training modules, and other divisions will follow.
“We are working with our supply partners to put up modules on their brands and products and education is an on-going process. We all need to understand brand is everything.”
Response from Sports Power and Sportscene members has been positive.
Says Dopper, “As retail is so tough, members have to be buyer, business strategist, visual merchandiser and maximise the benefits of technology, and we have to help them understand today’s retail world.”
