ASGA names forum speaker

Keynote speaker for the Australian  Sporting Goods Association forum in late October is Kevan Gosper, known to most Australians for his Olympic achievements.
He is a former chair and chief executive of Shell Australia and head of Shell’s Asia Pacific Operations out of London, and a director of Crown Casino Limited, Visy Industries and Lion Nathan.

Kevan Gosper was an Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games medalist, a vice -president of the International Olympic Committee, vice -president of the Sydney Olympic Organising Committee, chief of the IOC Press Commission, deputy chair of the IOC Organising Commission for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and inaugural chair of the Australian Institute of Sport.

Theme of this year’s conference will be New Directions in Sport, focussing on new directions and developments in sports business, policy, funding, opportunities and new developments in the industry.

The  ASGA general meeting will be held later that day (October  26), followed by drinks with the board.

New venue is the  AMMI Park in Melbourne.

• Marne Fechner, chief commercial officer of Netball Australia has joined the board filling the final independent member vacancy.
