Athletics Australia ‘excited’ at kit deal

adidas has been named major partner of Athletics Australia and its official apparel and footwear supplier in a new multi-year deal.

Athletics Australia chief executive Dallas O’Brien says the new partnership will greatly benefit the sport, but declined to disclose financial details.

And he says it is a “significant achievement” that the organisation had been able to team up with adidas. “While they have long been a strong supporter of athletics in this country through personal sponsorships of some of our biggest stars including Sally Pearson and Mitchell Watt, now they’ve joined us in a broader partnership,” he says. “We couldn’t be more excited.”

adidas head of global sports marketing for individual and regional sports Jim Latham says Australia had been “on the brand’s radar” for some time as a result of its emerging talents. “We’re very proud to be partnering with this leading industry body in Australia,” he says.

adidas will outfit all Athletics Australia teams at international championships and be “strongly represented” in the domestic season during the course of the Australian Athletics Tour.
