Cadel joins Reds in award poll

Australia’s cycling superstar Cadel Evans has been nominated for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Award following his dramatic victory in the Tour de France.

And the Queensland Reds, who won the Super 15 rugby championship to give a big emotional lift to their supporters after floods and Cyclone Yasi, have been shortlisted for the Laureus World Comeback of the Year Award.

The Laureus World Sports Awards, which recognise sporting achievement during the calendar year 2011, are the among  the premier honours on the international sporting calendar.  

The winners, as voted by the Laureus World Sports Academy,  made up of 47  great sportsmen and sportswomen, will be unveiled at a ceremony  in London in February.
