Deutschland, Deutschland, Deutschland, oi, oi, oi!

A close relationship with Germany’s DHB hockey federation has seen the patriotically-named Reece Australia oust adidas as the country’s hockey partner.

Reece, which has a German Facebook site and UK and Netherlands social media presence to support its Europe-based brands, has worked with DHB on hockey camps (pictured) to promote what is the country’s most popular team sport.

Now the apparel and equipment company has agreed a kit deal for the national men’s and women’s teams covering the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics and other international games within the six-year contract.

The supplier is the German subsidiary of Dutch-based manufacturer Deventrade which – like the DHB – has its office in the Hockey Park in Monchengladbach.

Uniquely the agreement allows both the federation and the national teams to be  actively involved in designing the hockey collections. Deventrade general director Arnold de Bruin says the textile collections will be developed and individualised “in close collaboration”. The indoor hockey world championships in Leipzig in February 2015 will be the launch for the collection.

De Bruin says the company looks forward with great enthusiasm to the partnership: "The sport of hockey is the most successful German Olympic team sport and offers us a perfect opportunity to expand our brand in Europe."

The Reece Australia brand was introduced in Europe in 2007, its collections inspired by its “pure and rough Australian heritage”. Reece Australia and Stanno are handled in Australia by Stanno which has offices in Carlton, NSW.
