Diamonds sparkle at sport awards

Australian netball shone at the I Support Women in Sport Awards  in Sydney this week with the Australian Diamonds and former captains Natalie von Bertouch and Liz Ellis collecting awards ahead of the team's success against Malawi last night.

Surfers also scored highly with Sally Fitzgibbon named as Women's Health magazine sports woman of the year award.

Five-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore was  awarded for her service to the sport, and Felicity Palmateer from WA was named local heroine of the year.

Olympic rower Kim Crow won the prime minister's award, with the Hockeyroos' World League victory over England was voted moment of the year.

The Diamonds were named as A-Team of the Year, former Diamonds captain Natalie von Bertouch was awarded the Leadership Legend award.

Liz Ellis was honoured for her media work with the Woman of Sporting Words award.

Her media work  includes  as a commentator of domestic and international netball for SBS 2 and Fox Sports.
