US sports trade 'hit' by new tariffs

The Sports & Fitness Industry Association is planning information sessions for US importers of products reported to be hit by new tariffs.

Products such as sports bags, gloves, apparel, headgear and some boats are at risk of the new tariff regime.

The United States Trade Representative compiled a list of thousands of Chinese-made products that are imported to the US, as potential targets for new tariffs, imposed by President Trump.

While many products in the sports and fitness industry will not face new tariffs, these items have been threatened, says the SFIA.

It will hold an urgent webinar this week to discuss the impact and how importers can learn how to get involved in the petitions to have products exempted from the tariffs.
